Trump supporters demonstrate outside Oscars
A small group of supporters of President Donald Trump demonstrated outside the Oscars calling on “Hollywood elites” to support the president.
Demonstrators claimed Hollywood has been a divisive force and said “they need to get over it,” referring to Trump’s election.
“We want people to know: Yes, there are Trump supporters,” organizer Randi Berger told KPCC.
Protesters intended to demonstrate at Trump’s star along the Walk of Fame, but Oscar red carpet infrastructure made it inaccessible. Instead, they gathered outside the Hollywood/Vine station in Hollywood.
They chanted “America first” and “Hollywood, don’t divide us” holding banners, signs and beating on a drum, cowbell and tambourine.
After rallying for a couple hours, demonstrators marched toward the Dolby Theater where celebrities were already arriving on the red carpet.
