Missing 1-year-old girl found safe after Amber Alert
A 1-year-old girl authorities say was abducted by her father in Rancho Cucamonga was found safe in Montclair on Tuesday after detectives saw a vehicle whose driver matched the description of the suspect they were looking for.
Lexi Segura was found unharmed in the car after her father, 38-year-old Daniel Segura, was pulled over and arrested. A handgun was also found, though Segura was taken into custody without incident, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The California Highway Patrol had issued an Amber alert Monday night for the girl, and Segura’s car was found unoccupied in Pomona, according to media reports.
The girl was taken after an argument with the girl’s mother, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jodi Miller told KPCC media partner NBC4.
“They are married. Apparently he is her estranged husband,” Miller said. “That just recently occurred. So the argument was over the child and he left the location with the child without the mother’s consent.”
In a statement, sheriff’s officials said Lexi was being reunited with her mother.
Segura will be booked for child abduction.
