Hollywood actors give voice to scripts penned by teenage girls
WriteGirl is a free program for aspiring writers ages 13 to 18. Teen girls who participate in the program get guidance and mentorship from women who volunteer to share their expertise.
And some of the girls get a chance to hear their work voiced by celebrities. At a recent fundraiser in Hollywood, Kirby Howell-Bapiste, Keiko Agena, Wayne Brady, and Seth Rogen performed 14 scripts written by WriteGirl participants.
The audio of the performances is courtesy of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. You can read more – and watch some of the scenes – over on our website, LAist.
One of the young writers featured in my story is 14-year-old (!!!) and first time @WriteGirlLA participant Victoria. Here's a scene she wrote, performed by @SethRogen and @wendimclendonco.
